We will continue to certify our environmental management systems against established international standards as the minimum level of our environmental performance.
Alongside statutory obligations in the field of environmental conservation (EU, national and local), there are a whole series of voluntary standards promulgated by national, European and international organizations standards, for example, the Italian Organisation for Standardisation (UNI), European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
On an international level, the benchmark is EN ISO 14001, an international standard that specifies the requisites for certifying the environmental management system (EMS) of an industrial process. Its purpose is to facilitate the achievement of environmental protection objectives through adoption of a recognized and certified system.
Luxottica has received ISO 14001 certification for all the Italian Luxottica plants and the planning for having the same certification for our Chinese plants, reflecting the Group's continued commitment to the protection of the environment.
We have also integrated environmental risk management into our corporate Risk Model and Framework, to integrate the management of environmental performance into our core process and ensure that environmental risks are reviewed and audited like any other business risk.
