SALMOIRAGHI & VIGANÒ: A SHOWCASE FOR THE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

From 7 to 21 February, Cortina D’Ampezzo will host the Alpine World Ski Championships. Also known as the “Pearl” or “Queen” of the Dolomites, the popular tourist resort is one of the most desirable winter sports destinations and was the location of the Winter Olympics back in 1956, an important and symbolic event for Italy at the time, which was in the process of rebuilding in the wake of the Second World War.

With the same spirit and desire to look to the future, Salmoiraghi & Viganò – Italy’s leading optical retail chain, part of the Luxottica family since 2016 – has decided to fit out its Cortina store for the occasion. A central location and innovative technologies: the local Salmoiraghi & Viganò store, opened last July, is now decorated with a theme that fully expresses this important event’s sporting identity.

Inside the main shop window there are two photo panels celebrating the international competition and world-class winter sport through the Oakley brand and its wide range of sports goggles and glasses.  There are two special edition goggles: one, which evokes the vivid colors of the northern lights, is inspired by the visor on a fighter pilot’s helmet and maximizes the field of vision; the other features a graphic design inspired by the group of Norwegian skiers known as the “Attacking Vikings” who brought glory to this discipline from the early 1990s to the present day.

The back of the store window in Cortina features a striking structure portraying the snow-covered Tofane massif, the event’s symbolic landmark.

This occasion has given the Cortina store an opportunity to position itself as a point of reference both for those looking for high-performance sports products and for those who want to discover the latest collections by luxury brands.
