Hello to all of you following along with the OneSight team in The Gambia. We’ve all made it safe and sound, and we’re only down one piece of luggage (sorry Jennifer).
After a meet and greet and a delicious dinner, many folks are turning towards their rooms after a day and a half of travel.
During our meeting this evening the excitement was palpable in the group-team members are so excited to finally be here after months and months of planning and work. We saw several happy hugs exchanged between teammates who have collaborated from all over the world, and finally got to meet face to face for the first time.
Tomorrow we take off for a 4 to 8 hour commute to Farafenni, the site of our pilot Vision Center. We’ll do our best to keep you posted on our progress, but we’ve gotten reports of spotty electric and even spottier Internet access, so if you don’t hear from us during the week expect a stream of posts this coming weekend when we return to Banjul.
Thanks so much for following along on this adventure-we’re so honored to represent OneSight on this important endeavor.
