Under the patronage of the City of Milan, from October 7th-18th 2019, approximately 800 people in need had free access to a complete eye examination and, if necessary, eyeglasses to resolve their visual defect.
The initiative involved children and adults, Milanese and migrants, guests of some of Milan's most important charitable organizations, such as Casa “Enzo Jannacci” and Fondazione Progetto Arca Onlus, as well as Associazione CAF Onlus and Istituti Milanesi Martinitt e Stelline that deal with children in difficult circumstances.
Eye exams were carried out by highly qualified personnel, professional optometrists selected with the support of the COMIB Research Center of the Bicocca University of Milan supported by ophthalmologists who took care of diagnosing possible pathologies.
Luxottica employees participated as volunteers by donating their vacation days to facilitate activities, management of visits, and the distribution of glasses. This is the third year in a row Luxottica has partnered with OneSight on this initiative.
