Luxottica is not stopping

Luxottica’s strength lies in its people and its deep connection with the communities in which it operates. While 2020 was a very challenging year, it offered an extraordinary opportunity to give new and urgent meaning to the social role of business. The Group’s priority remains focused on protecting not only employees and their families, but its communities, partners and optical customers.

From the early days of the pandemic, the Group implemented remote working, set up safety protocols, and adopted economic measures to protect workers. Production sites and offices around the world were redesigned to meet new safety requirements and a smart working format was adopted globally by many teams. Within a few months in Agordo, Atlanta and Foothill Ranch, production of protective equipment such as masks and face shields began. Meanwhile in Italy, a project for active infection monitoring was launched in collaboration with the University of Padua, giving employees and household family members free access to Covid-19 testing. This important tracing model evolved over the course of the year with mobile labs reaching all of the Group’s offices throughout Italy, as well as optical customers and partners.

Thanks to these measures, special sanitization, supply of personal protective equipment and strict compliance with the rules, Luxottica has managed to guarantee its consumers continued and essential services.

A focus on people and prevention is the foundation of all the initiatives Luxottica built in response to the pandemic.  While there is still a long way to go to emerge from the pandemic, everyone’s continued support and cooperation gives us confidence as we look to the future with great optimism.
