“On the road” swab tests for family members and optical clients with mobile units

Enabling everyone to work safely is a priority for Luxottica which, in order to support customers participating in the Group's sales roadshows, has now implemented “on the road” its prevention system based on smart swab tests under the scientific supervision of the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Padua and Prof. Andrea Crisanti’s team.

The system features mobile testing units that contain advanced, transportable machinery for processing molecular swab tests and are staffed by specially trained personnel.

The last initiative in chronological order is a roadshow to offer optical clients and their associates the opportunity to take part in the prevention campaign that will tour the country, making a  first stop in Naples and gradually travel to the main Italian cities.

The model was perfected in the Group’s factories that do not already have dedicated facilities, such as the sports hall in Sedico or the former OneSight center in Agordo. The mobile unit has made it possible to open the company’s Covid-19 prevention system to employees’ families in total safety, allowing guests to access the service without entering the production sites.

The mobile units developed by Luxottica made their debut this summer, when the company decided to travel to busy tourist destinations, such as Sardinia, to offer free molecular tests to family and household members of employees and optical clients. The “on the road” laboratory also provides support to Versace, which has decided to adopt part of this protocol for its employees by making them part of the monitoring program.

The Group’s welfare is evolving, first becoming community welfare and now expanding into supply chain welfare. The target audience is being expanded to comprise an increasing number of people, including employees, their family members and optical clients, while always putting health first.
