The talent of women is a crucial resource to boost the growth of our country. An increasing number of women, especially in top positions of companies and institutions, brings benefits in terms of better organization and results. This statement is supported by authoritative studies, but also emerges from the observation of a family, whose "engine" is often the tireless work of the woman-wife-mother. Investing in this talent is a strategic choice and it’s also the inspiration of Valore D.

It all started with a meeting of women managers. While discussing women’s leadership, they felt an immediate need to take action. No sooner said than done. Shortly after that first meeting, in March 2009, Valore D was established. The first Association of large companies (including Luxottica) formed in Italy to promote women's leadership and talent for the growth of businesses and the country.

Compared to other Associations, Valore D involves directly the companies. The women managers, also for their role, were able to convey the idea inside their company and convince the top managers to support it. This allows Valore D to strengthen its capacity to propose and the possibility of involving more people.

Valore D focuses its mission on concrete actions: to support and increase women’s talent and representation in top positions in major Italian companies. Concrete actions and talent: a combination featuring all the women engaged in the Association.

The activities of Valore D are aimed at women managers, Italian companies and society as a whole. Mentorship, skill building, work-life balance, role model and social innovation are the five areas of work: sharing experiences between senior and junior managers, development of leadership and managerial skills, study of successful role models, promoting a successful work-life balance and spurring concrete actions to enhance the role of women in society.

As Rita Levi Montalcini used to say: “Rare are the people who use their minds, few those who use the heart. Unique are those who use both”. Unique as most of women.
