WORLD SIGHT DAY 2018: LUXOTTICA AND ONESIGHT INITIATIVES AROUND THE WORLD
World Sight Day is a global event created by the World Health Organization in order to raise awareness about blindness and vision impairment as well as its prevention. It is held every year on the second Thursday in October, but OneSight has already been hard at work since September 28th,engaging thousands of Luxottica employees in the mission to provide eyecare assistance worldwide.

Volunteers are on hand throughout each important step: from eye exams to the production and distribution of eyewear for those in need. Local clinics have been set up in Australia, China, Gambia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United States, Zambia, and also Italy, in Milan.
In North America, LensCrafters, Pearle Vision and Sears Optical will all open their store doors for the entire day across the country to people without the economic means to pay for an eye exam or a pair of glasses.
Clear vision is an essential part of social and economic independence, yet 2.5 billion people do not have access to vision correction services. As part of its mission, To See the Beauty of Life, Luxottica aims to provide access to eye care and glasses for as many people as possible around the world.
